Stopped today after hearing good things. Overall, I'd say it's okay. Bread quality is good, portions were adequate. I love onions so the amount provided on my sub was good by me, although I wouldn't want it on a regular basis. I found the "footlong" hot dog to be good as well, but didn't care for the chili sauce. Overall it's an ok place with some old school tradition. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area.

East end is the originator of the famous "Tyrone" sub. Their housed in a small building with several ladies working behind the counter. Walking in the door makes you feel like it's 1973. Unfortunately, in the post covid world, they've eliminated the few dine-in options so it's take out only. They have weird hours, the staff are always gossiping, and their pizza is not good (pre-made frozen crust). Good news though -- you don't come for the pizza you come for the subs regardless of their name. A warning is in order, to come here you must love onions (I mean really really love'em). The sub has chip chop ham (not a premo cut), bologna, lettuce, tomato, banana peps and loads of ONIONS! East end's onions are sliced really thin, chopped to about 1/2" and are marinated in oil and vinegar. This is literally an onion sub and East End's onions are the best! I typically go medium green (pictured) and the different variations usually mean more or less hot pepper seeds. Pair with another one of PA's finest, Middleswarth BBQ chips, to feel like you are a true born Central Pennsylvanian (oh to dream). It's a toss up on who's got the best Tyrone sub though (there's a copy cat down the street). Apparently, the original Owner sold the recipe when he sold this restaurant. Both subs are similar but different and I switch it up to keep things spicy. Try both together and buy some gum, you'll need it!

East End Pizza is a very popular long standing place for food and especially their famous hoagies. No one makes hoagies liked theirs. East End is known far beyond Tyrone. one thing to remember - they don't take credit in cards

This long time favorite makes some of the best and most flavorful subs you'll ever dig into! There's plenty of places to buy a sub, such as the national chain Subway and at the deli counters of countless super markets, who have jumped into the sub business. But with all the variables of making a sub (great bread, quality and quantity of the meats, cheeses, seasonings, oil, etc.) this place is not to be missed. Still unmatched in their quality and taste after all these years as the locals will tell you!

Best subs in the local area by far. It's the onions. They are smallish, so I always get two. Or one with a footlong hot dog. They are excellent too. Staff is friendly and quick. My only complaint is that they have no public restroom. I'm usually stopping by at the end of a long trip, so sometimes I don't stop since I can't pee there. Lol
